We had a busy weekend again! We took a train to NYC again Saturday. We left later than usual though because we had to wait for maintenance to come to our apartment to spray for bugs. They spray monthly here and request that you be home during spray times (always on Saturdays). If you are not home for it, you risk not getting your deposit back when you move out. That seems crazy to me...what if people work on Saturday??? Oh well...we signed up for a 9:45 spray time and then ran to the train station as soon as they left. We were glad to be gone all day so Emily wasn't in the apartment right after it got sprayed! We went straight to John's Pizzeria for lunch. This is one of the top 10 NY pizza places! It was delicious...possibly the best pizza we've ever had!!!

Then we went to see the World Trade Center site! It is awesome to see the new World Trade Center being built! There was a huge line to get in to see the Memorial. We plan to do that next month, so just walked around and saw the area this time. Then we went to Wall Street! We saw where Washington was sworn in as our first president. (My mom remembers seeing this when she was 18 years old...how cool!) We saw the Charging Bull statue (the Bull on Wall Street). Then we went to Battery Park, where we could see the Statue of Liberty!!!!! Seeing the Statue is what I wanted to do the most during our time in NY so I was super excited! We also took the Staten Island Ferry! We had an awesome view of the Statue of Liberty from the ferry! We walked the boardwalk at Staten Island and then took the ferry back and headed home. We didn't get home until 8pm and we were exhausted! We had cereal for supper! haha! Emily had a snack and a bath and then we all went to bed!

Sunday morning, we woke up at 7 and were gone by 8...we had to rush to catch the train again but at least we didn't have to run this time! We went to the USS Intrepid, a huge ship (aircraft carrier) that is now a Sea, Air, and Space Museum. We got to see the space shuttle Enterprise on the ship! That was my favorite part! The ship tour was neat too though...3,000 people once lived/worked on that ship! It was incredible to see the rooms where they slept and ate. Hard to believe! Phillip really enjoyed seeing all of the planes on the ship also. It was cool! We were starving when we left! There was a Villa Pizza nearby so we went there for a quick lunch. You order by the slice at this one. I had spinach and mushroom...delicious! Phillip had pepperoni, his favorite! They were good but definitely didn't compare to John's! Then we started walking toward Central Park. We saw a parade on the way! They had blocked off the streets for the Bolivia Day Parade! We just saw a little of it but Emily really enjoyed seeing the girls in costume dancing down the street! She started clapping when she saw them! So cute!!! We went out of our way to walk to Serendipity! We wanted to try a frozen hot chocolate from there! A sign on the door said no strollers allowed, so Phillip stayed outside with Emily and I went in to order one for us to share. At least that was my plan...turns out, you can't order anything to go. There was an hour and 10 minute wait!!!!! No way were we going to wait that long!!!! Oh and a frozen hot chocolate costs $9. There was a sign saying there was a minimum of $8.50 per person. So we couldn't have even shared one anyway. We heard they are HUGE and too much for one person. I think that's just terrible! So much for Serendipity...

We turned around and headed back to Central Park. It was a beautiful day at around 70 degrees. There were TONS of people walking around the park. This is still my favorite park of NYC!!!! We found a playground and Emily got all excited when she saw the swings and the slide. She had so much fun there that she cried and cried and cried when we left! It was so sad! We got home around 7 that evening. It was a busy, fun weekend! Emily loves getting on the trains but she quickly gets impatient on the trains because she wants to "go go go" and she can't walk around much while the train is moving. If the train isn't busy, we try to get a section where 3 seats face 3 more seats. We sit at each end so she can stand and walk a little between us! She loves that!

Emily and I found a library nearby yesterday and I got a library card! She was so excited about the books we checked out! She LOVES books!!!! I think we might go there a lot over the next month and a half!!!!
