This morning, Phillip went to a workshop on sutures. There was a lecture first and then they got to practice sewing the 4 types of stitches. He said it was fun! He got lucky because only the first 20 to sign up got to attend!
When he got home, we had a quick lunch and walked around in search of a grocery store close by. We had heard there is a small one in a resort nearby. We found it! It sure didn’t have much, but we did get sugar and bread, which were the 2 things we really wanted!! (We’ve been drinking tons of kool-aid, so running out of sugar was not cool!) We walked home to drop the stuff off…
After that, we took the water taxi to Marigot. The water taxi is great! It’s $7.00 each way per person with a student ID, $9.00 for non students. It was a boat that works just like a taxi. Cool concept! Anyway, it dropped us off in Marigot, which is the French capital. We wandered around the market which they have 3 days a week, mornings till mid afternoon. We got some cool souvenirs, but tried to be good and not buy much! We got a thimble and a shot glass of course! We also got a ball to play with at the ocean, a cool St. Maarten Christmas ornament, and 2 St. Maarten beach towels!!! Very excited to have more than 2 beach towels now! You can get really good deals on things like that in the market. They also have lots of T-shirts, jewelry, swim cover ups, and cool decorations. We walked to the French mall and wandered around to see what all was in it. As expected, we couldn’t afford anything!! We went in several little shops as we were walking back to the area where the water taxi would pick us up. I found a swimsuit I loved. Too bad it was $100!!! Isn’t that crazy! The sad thing is, that was one of the cheaper ones! Most ranged from $100 - $190!!! I don’t think so!!!!
While riding back in the water taxi, we saw someone water skiing! I was very excited about that…it looked like so much fun! I want to ski in the ocean!!!
